All our Regina and Heeled Regina boots are designed with up to 5cm worth of stretch (split across 5 elastic panels) to help fit a range of calf sizes. The Calf Width for all can be found on the “view Size Guide”.
For help with the foot entry or ankle, please see here.
Fitting the Calf
To fit the Regina and the Heeled Regina, the zip should be pulled up via the D-ring (rather than the tassel). Initially, some find it easier to try the boot on over bare skin, to provide the narrowest possible Calf Width for fitting, and then progress to additional layers once the boot has relaxed.
If the boot feels tight (or the zip won’t fully go up), then fear not! The boots are designed so that they will stretch with the help of 5cm of elastic panelling at the back.
To use the elastic, put your weight through the required foot, the rear panel/ zip of the boot should be pulled out and away from the leg, perpendicular to the calf (whilst holding the front) - so the elastic panel are stretched. Pull the back of the boot around the leg towards the front - lining up the front and rear zips and bringing them closer.
Zip the boot up by holding the D-ring and holding the front and rear zips together - this ensures any pressure is placed on the elastic rather than on the teeth of the zip itself.
(Using the zip to pull or force the elastic panelling around from the rear may lead to the boot giving an incorrect impression of fitting, excessive tightness, and potentially pull the teeth out of alignment).
Need a little extra room?
If the zip won’t fully go up the leg, don’t worry! Wear the boots around the house and on soft surfaces whilst wearing the suede or leather in, with the zip as far up as you can get it. Body heat, pressure and use will soften the elastic and suede/ leather, allowing the zip to come up further (little by little) with wear, before eventually sliding up smoothly!
Here's Stag to show you how:
A little extra explanation
Leather and Suede (being natural products) have an inherent stretch within them that will become apparent with wear. By wearing the boots around the house or whilst doing basic activities, the suede and leather will begin to soften and stretch (thanks to body heat and pressure). Prolonged use and wear will make this much easier over time - Persevere!
Don't worry - the boots will only stretch as much as required (where pressure is being applied). Leather will eventually stretch to the same degree as suede, but will take a little longer, and feel firmer/ tighter to start.
